That one is not for me 😂 but thanks for sharing multiple techniques !
Your videos have helped me so much! I’ve dealt with obsessions and compulsions surrounding gender identity, and for once, I don’t care about “figuring it out” anymore. I’m picking up new hobbies and focusing on my life again. Thank you for making these videos, they’ve impacted me, and likely many others, for the better
me with ROCD watching that video: "Imagine breaking up with somebody!" *me being in big panic* hahaha! no worries. very great video! thank you!! ♥
Thanks for sharing
What would the first line of your your break up letter look like to OCD?
Thank you ❤️
THIS MAN SAVED MY LIFE FROM SUICIDAL INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS 2 YEARS FROM.NOW!!!!God bless this brother I listen to him,and followed his advice❤❤❤
For anyone struggling I want you to know you can overcome this. Recovery is 1000% possible and these thoughts/ feelings don’t have to bother you forever. Lead who to change your interpretation of your thoughts and learn some ERP practices though a consular or therapist.
It’s hard but it works :)
The "urge" vs "curiosity" is a good way to notice things Helps a lot
Thank you Nathan for those excellent teachings 🙏💪
what if my exposure turn to a panic attack, then lead to a full panic for a long time should I keep going with the exposure even it became really hard?
I suffer with this every day and its worst when your brain starts to ruminate about a thought from before. But gotta stay strong, remember what matters is the here and now - the present. As Tommy Shelby once said, "The past is in the past. The past is not my concern."
I have never been afraid of dying until now. The feeling is very foreign to me, because I have even been in a state where I wanted to self delete. Now that I am 50, I am almost in a panicked state, because losing family members is very real, given their age. I worry about my husband dying, my brother, my mother. I worry I will be left alone. Then I worry about if I die, is dying final? Will I know? Is it like being asleep forever? Then I realise that it’s out of my control, and that in itself is scary. I have been exposed to a lot of death, more than most. I lived at the Ronald McDonald House full time for 5 years, as my son has cancer. I watched over 50 children die. I’m also a vet tech, so I have seen a lot of animals die and assisted in euthanasia hundreds of times. How can I over come this feeling of doom, this fear of death?
You mean im not the only one suffering from this
Everything he said in this video is me and everyone I talk to says they think I have severe OCD and I took 5 tests and they all said I have severe OCD
For me, it’s thinking I’m going to throw out something that I am going to have to buy later. I don’t mind giving away, I love to help others. I don’t hoard to clutter but I procrastinate on making time to give away or discard. Thank you for sharing the tips, they are very practical and have helped tremendously 😊
Depends on the types of fears and what of.
I've had nothing but bad experiences with relationships. My last one was very abusive mentally and physically. I reconnected with someone from 10 years ago and he is my literal other half. My worries are I'm going to hear the thoughts I did with my ex and then I start panicking if it's " God " trying to tell me something, but I can tell myself I have anxiety and I need to stop. I don't have thoughts of I can't do this, we have a healthy happy relationship but we are long distance right now. I worry about the what ifs and redirect my brain and I think a lot of it is now related to my trauma. I know I want and love him, we've known each other for so long and we were friends first, he is my best friend and hate the feeling of anxiety. I don't feel I've made the wrong decision, I worry about the thoughts I had in a past relationship will come back, even though it was very much so unhealthy and I could not deal with it. Him, he's different, he's my other half as I said, and I will be moving home to be with him and start school again. This makes me feel better, KNOWING this is anxiety and my OCD and now that I have something else to obsess about other than my health and animals it's starting. I know it's intrusive thoughts and not intuitive. I definitely need to go to therapy and I know it will help. I told him about ROCD and he's so supportive and loving and reassures me.
Idk how to avoid the fear of magically becoming pregnant OR face it
Hey, idk if this is a glitch specific to my phone, or a shadowban thing, but I thought I'd mention it, because comments help the algorithm anyway. When I scrolled onto your video, there was nothing "on" the video. There was no comment, like button, description or anything. I had to scroll to the next video and back up again a few times before it showed up.
It happens if you click on the vid from a long form video right?
Well that's strange. Thanks for letting me know.
So proud of you for being open and vulnerable. I’m a psychologist and your work is so important! I direct my patients to your channel all the time . Keep fighting the good fight ❤
I miss you more than you ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever does this sound like ocd?
I constantly ruminate about if im gonna develope scitzophrenia, personality disorder, if im manic, or gonna go crazy, my grandpa is also in psycosis cause he has ptsd from war and im afraid its gonna happen to me, anyway you can make a video about this?
Hey Nate, thanks for the great video. I’m a Lutheran Pastor in Chino, California who struggles with OCD and scrupolosity. I learned severe videos from my therapist Diane Tiberg, and I really enjoy watching you.
I have dermatillomania. my skin looks really bad,my face,my shoulders, arms, stomach, legs.even my chest is covered in blemishes and scabs.it's been happening for 3 years.I need to put this to stop and that's my first step
Haha no trust nothing
Just remember that there is nothing mentally or physically wrong with you when you feel symptoms of DP/DR, it's just your body's natural response to anxiety and/or chronic pain. You can overcome it eventually, you just have to learn to accept it per se; the sooner you do the sooner it dissipates. I speak from personal experience and I promise that it can be overcome. Don't consume too much caffeine either because it can exacerbate your anxiety and thus cause you to experience DP/DR.
Is this connected to self harm ? The first intrusive thoughts I had was about self harm and I went outside yesterday and I was looking at the sky and a thought was like you’re gonna be in there
Im 16 and have intrusive thoughts and depersonalization and anxiety and depression. I’m scared for myself so lost and hopeless
dont worry, I have ALL of that also. Stay strong
@@user-xr6pc4si8m I’m trying! I have a great support system. I’m getting help tomorrow after a month and a few weeks of having all of this it’s my first time having depression and intrusive thoughts. You also stay strong !!
same age and same thing here, except more, it's 24/7 for me, hope you get better
We'll make it just stay strong and accept all your thoughts are just thoughts
Strength to you. I'm dealing with the same.
Anyone have any solutions???
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I always-get a intrusive thought like my relatives will come to my university and they will ruin my college life forever. My mind always plays images and video like my relatives have arrived in my university and they are roaming around my campus whenever I think about this I get so much anxiety and stress I don't feel good in any way and I am suffering from this mental conditions from last 6 months . Please anyone help me out .
Hahaha who else had this as a kid but had absolutely no idea what was happening and life was anxious and terrible?
❤
Very helpful, thank you ❤
Im afraid of hights. I don't know how irrational that is.
I think the difference between irrational fears & self preservation is just kinda blurry to most ppl
I appreciate you for all the work you've done nate You are the reason i decided not to take my own life Because i genuinely thought i was a monster I'm sorry for what you went through I went through something similar After opening up to my friends about it. Someone made a misinformative video on me about my POCD Which lead to people sending a bunch of hate to my channel It got so bad that i started recieving threats towards me. It was indeed scary and traumatizing And i'm still not 100% Thank you for everything ❤
1.Expect the unexpected- we don’t need safe places/times etc 2.Be willing to accept the risk 3.never seek reassurance from others - tell yourself the worst is already happening/ logic doesn’t work in treatments 4. Agree with thoughts- even if the thoughts are scary ( it means you don’t really care about the thought gives it less power) 5. Don’t prevent thoughts- it will have the opposite effect 6. Try not to be a black or white thinker- don’t wait until the next day to start over 7. Take responsibility- don’t let others help you you have to do it on your own 8. Don’t get too impatient with progress 9. Move towards anxiety- face it 10. Choose the more difficult route- you can handle it. 11. Review your homework daily 12. Speak up if you can do your homework 13. Don’t wait for the perfect moment- You will never feel “ready” 14. Don’t be perfect- be imperfect ( do things incorrectly on purpose if you feel you need to obsess over perfection) 15. Start the day off right - wake up and “risk” your OCD 16. Don’t give yourself reassurance “it’s only homework” “ my therapist wouldn’t make me do this if it could cause harm” take the logic and reassurance out of it. 17. Give your homework your full attention- Dont tune out the anxiety or distract. Feel it. Stay in the moment 18. When faced with an unexpected challenge - think positively - say yes!! Great practice time 19. Don’t rush exposures- the goal is to retrain brain. Don’t get out of the anxiety as fast as possible. That gives it power 20. Tell therapist if your exposures aren’t hard enough. 21. Trust in the treatment- “maybe I should do acupuncture instead” “maybe I need to try something else” this is the doubting disease. 22. Never forget you have OCD- sometimes you can’t trust yourself anxious +urge to fix =OCD 23. The problem isn’t the anxiety it’s the way you react to perceived threats - be ok feeling the anxiety 24. Be proud of yourself ! 25. OCD doesn’t make sense. We don’t need to make it make sense. The things you think may work might now. Move towards the threats
thank you for your advices
Its so hard to accept it 😭😭😭😭
Hey...... Thanks Buddy❣️
I believe the actress herself has OCD as well!
I am so grateful that you are here, helping us! ❤🎩👏
Thanks for thiss
I'm scared because what if me saying "it's okay that I have that thought" makes it true?? I'm going crazy and I feel like a horrible person:<
I’m f*cked.
I can help, what's the case for you?
Thank you! I love you ❤
I'm glad this guy is here on RUclips. I am much better from OCD since June 2021. Your thoughts fears worries are imagination. It's not reality. Move forward towards your happiness
Didn't discover this guy until this year. I suffered from severe OCD 2016 to June 2021. I'm healed and much better now. If you are suffering like I was, you can overcome this. If your mind is powerful enough to create these illusions your mind is powerful enough to destroy them. My fears and worries are all my imagination. They are not reality. They don't exist in reality. Everything in life is temporary. I have to do something important and meaningful with my life before I die.
oh no 😭
